John Kavanaugh Seminar

Irish BJJ Black Belt John Kavanaugh will be giving a seminar at the club on July 6th on no-gi jiu-jitsu.
It will be at 8:00pm and is only open to CBJJ members and BDB affiliate members.
Cost will be $3o.

Tournament Results

On June 20th, Canadian Martial Arts Centre in Lethbridge hosted a grappling tournament which was attended by approximately 40 adult fighters. Cranbrook BJJ provided 5 of them. Don Nguyen, Pierre Beaudoin, Chad Roberts, Jeremy Kish and Brian Hamm. This was our first competition and we were pleased with our showing. Pierre and Chad took 2nd places in their respective divisions, Jeremy took 3rd place in his, (after being bumped up a weight class), and Brian tied for a 1st with Calgary Fight Club's Rene Grenon. There was a good range of skills present and it was a lot of fun to try our hands against some new blood. Jan Pratschke was our "man on the mat" film maker, getting us some footage to study!
Brian Bird, of BDB Martial Arts in Calgary, was with us every step. The night before he gave us a crash course on competition do's and don't's, drove down with us on Saturday, and coached us all through our fights with encouragement and advice. A huge thank you Brian, for being our instructor and our coach!

BJJ IN CRANBROOK! WHO KNEW?

Hello. We are finally on the web and somewhat in control of our destinies!
We have Brian Bird coming in tonight for the class at 8:00. He will probably be tweaking us up for the competition tomorrow.
I'm impressed with the number of you guys that want to attend the competition and I want to congratulate you in advance. Not for winning, but for stepping up.
Our club is starting to gel. This is going to be fun!
