Brown Belt
Brian Bird awarded me my Brown Belt on the weekend after a 2 1/2 hour test. My guys were there to dish out the punishment, displaying their skills and constantly challenging me.
Thanks for being there for me.
I am honoured to have such a proficient and technical coach who also happens to be a great friend. He motivates and pushes me to achieve more than I sometimes think is possible. For most of the past decade he has given tirelessly of his knowledge and experience and I am truly grateful to be part of his organization.
Thank you Brian and Sheila for your friendship and support.

Champions Creed Seminar
Just got back from another great weekend in Calgary at Brian and Sheila Bird's gym, Champions Creed. The leader of our organization, Roy Harris, was up from San Diego and gave a great seminar on guard work. Learned a lot; easy. Putting it into practice; not so easy!
Mr. Harris also awarded two new belts. Sheila Bird earned her second degree black, and Dan Buchwald his black. Congratulations to both of them!
Brian and Sheila, as usual, were great hosts and we appreciate the effort that goes into organizing these events. Can't wait for the next one in June!

Another Annual Update!
We recently travelled to Red Deer for the Submission Ace Cup tournament in January. Stopped off in Calgary to pick up a humility lesson or two, then on to Red Deer. We joined loads of BDB fighters and a wack of others from all over and had a great time. A medal eluded Chad Roberts, Chris Nault lost his bronze in a tie match, and Brandon MacArthur snatched a silver. The first step is always to show up and these guys did that. Tired and sore, but we were there.
Chad and I also cruised over to Calgary to prove once and for all that not only can we roll, but we can hang drywall too. Actually, Chad can hang drywall, I just mostly passed him screws......, but, hey, where credit is due..... Champions Creed is almost done, everyone is getting excited, and the future looks bright.
In Cranbrook, things move slower, but we are just as optimistic. Plans for the new gym are underway and, wow, do we look forward to the day when that all comes together!
